I wrote this song when I was struggling to come up with anything. I kept backing down from the challenge at the slightest sign of inconvenience, and then was encouraged to strip it down to the basics: chords, melody, lyrics. I sent the demo to Circus-P wondering if he would like to handle the production of the song, and he said yes.
Which was kind of silly, considering he was also remixing Both Of Us. But he managed to do both.
The song is about building yourself up to face the things that bring you down, trying to do what's right even when you're scared you'll get it wrong, and pushing aside any obstacles in your path. More personally, it's a letter to myself, when I'm at my lowest, that I need to and inevitably will do better.
On every other version of SYNTECH- posted, and even the places I've posted this, the way the collaboration is listed is one of several variants. Most commonly, it'll be "nostraightanswer - Courage (feat. Circus-P)". Make no mistake though, they're the same.
It's amazing what the pain can do
Covered up and left to dry overnight
Seem so calm but if you stare me through
Not so tough, I'm choking all of the time
Even if you have my back
I don't feel the comfort I so deeply need
Sorry to tell you that it's worthless
But
Give me something I don't know if I can fight
I'll come out into the light
If I know it isn't right to hide
Give me something I don't know if I can heal
Doesn't matter how I feel
But it matters if I fail to try
Give me a choice that I don't dare to choose
Give me a chance, I can't afford to lose
Give me something I don't know if I can fight
And you'll see me in a new light
And I don't need a reason to hold
The door closed, all night, if I wanted to
Admitting I was scared, I was wrong, I was
Holding on to nothing but pretended to
Chemicals astray in my brain
Covered up, released by the rain
Building up the courage I've needed to say this
Despite this, know, know, know
Give me something I don't know if I can fight
I'll come out into the light
If I know it isn't right to hide
Give me something I don't know if I can heal
Doesn't matter how I feel
But it matters if I fail to try
Give me a choice that I don't dare to choose
Give me a chance, I can't afford to lose
Give me something I don't know if I can fight
And you'll see me in a new light
Tearing down the walls around me, I'm
Facing all the pain inside me, I'm
Calling all the shots, remind me, I'm
Checking all my losses for me, I'm
Building up the brave inside me, I'm
Struggling and straining for me, I'm
Reaching out to friends to find me, I
Need you more than ever right now, I'm
Leave it to me, to work myself up so much
Covered in sweat, like I was in such a rush
All of the better, to find me steeped in courage
So
Give me something I don't know if I can fight
I'll come out into the light
If I know it isn't right to hide
Give me something I don't know if I can heal
Doesn't matter how I feel
But it matters if I fail to try
Give me a choice that I don't dare to choose
Give me a chance, I can't afford to lose
Give me something I don't know if I can fight
And you'll see me in a new light
Tearing down the walls around me, I'm
Facing all the pain inside me, I'm
Calling all the shots, remind me, I'm
Checking all my losses for me, I'm
Building up the brave inside me, I'm
Struggling and straining for me, I'm
Reaching out to friends to find me, I'm
All of the better, you'll find me steeped deep in courage

Circus's "715" is an excellent evolution of his sound and style since the "Lucid" days. I'm extremely proud to be part of it (on "Patches", "Castaway" remix), and thoroughly enjoy the entire album. nostraightanswer
Melt came into my orbit by covering a song I recorded for Circus-P. Since then, her own sound has become something quite special, and has made herself a mainstay of the English VOCALOID scene. nostraightanswer
